At Jewish Care, we recognise the devastating impact that loneliness and social isolation can have on older people living in our community. That's why, at our Active Living Centre on St Kilda Road, we invite clients to come together and relish in a day of activities, enjoyment and social connection.

We are looking for Welcome Walker volunteers to provide a friendly hand and warm smile as they arrive in the morning, and again when they leave, and assist them in the lifts to the Active Living Centre.

Activities take place each day from Monday to Thursday, and Elders start to arrive from 9:30am, and leave around 1:30pm.

If you can give any time on any day of the week to help out on a regular basis, we would love to hear from you!  You are welcome to stay for the activities and enjoy lunch with the Elders, or you may with you help out for a morning or afternoon session only.

You must be patient, reliable and able to communicate well with older people. Some Elders have mobility limitations, and some are in a wheelchair, so you must be able to help guide or assist them through our premises.

There will also be a staff member there to help out, and we will provide orientation, training and ongoing support, as required.

Jewish Care will undergo a police check on your behalf.
