Consumer Representative - Disciplinary Committee

The Veterinary Council of Australia (VNCA) is seeking to recruit a consumer representative for a position on its newly-formed Disciplinary Committee.

The Disciplinary Committee operates under Terms of Reference that identify the purpose, structure, authority and reporting of the activities of the Committee.

The VNCA Disciplinary Committee handles complaints arising from VNCA members, and individuals registered or listed under the Australian Veterinary Nurse and Technician (AVNAT) Registration Scheme.

The consumer representative will be required to provide a consumer voice to matters that are brought to the committee for discussion. These meetings may require pre-reading and preparation.

We are seeking a person with the following characteristics:

  • Demonstrated experience as a consumer of veterinary services
  • Demonstrated ability to represent a consumer perspective in Committee deliberations
  • Ability and willingness to participate in meetings with Committee members
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to access websites, to respond to email communications, and to take part in teleconferences

Meeting commitment required for this role: annually in-person, and monthly as required, duration up to two hours
