The YMCA Schools' Breakfast Program aims to provide children who miss out on breakfast with a free nutritious breakfast to kick start their day and to provide a real chance at concentration in the classroom. Adult role models are needed to be breakfast mentors. The role includes volunteering as part of a team to prepare and serve breakfast (toast and cereal) to school children.
Volunteers are required for at least one morning per week. The program operates from 7:30am - 9:00am each morning of the week (school terms only) at Kruger State School.
The YMCA Schools' Breakfast Program provides free breakfasts to thousands of children and young people throughout South East Queensland. This program could not be run without dedicated volunteers. The impact of volunteers serving school children breakfast has a ripple effect with ongoing results and outcomes which may never be seen, but is life-changing for those children, and ultimately the future of our community.
