Calling all Volunteers

The CLASSICS: Queensland Wheelchair Basketball Championships 2019

Wheelchair Basketball is based on the sport of basketball, with minor adaptations to the rules to reflect the use of wheelchairs. It is played on standard basketball courts with standard height rings and backboards.

The game was originally designed as a rehabilitation and recreation activity for people with a spinal cord injury. It is now enjoyed by people of all abilities.

With only a short time left until tip-off of the CLASSICS: Queensland Wheelchair Basketball Championships 2019, the Association is pleased to launch the application process to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic team of volunteers in order to support the successful delivery of this sporting event.

The event will feature three (3) days of intense and hard-hitting competition as elite athletes from all over Queensland showcase the elite skill and athleticism that make wheelchair basketball a thrilling spectator sport and one of the most popular sports for athletes with a disability in the world.

• Location: Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Sports Centre, Melaleuca Dr Boondall QLD 4034, Car Park 4. • Dates: Saturday 4 to Monday 6 May 2019 • Times: 9am to 5pm (approximately) • Training: Full training is be provided

There are opportunities to volunteer in several key areas, including:

• Manual Scoresheet Attendant • Electronic Scoresheet Attendant • Control Room Attendant • Drivers (must be over the age of 25) • Photographer with own camera.
