Supported Playgroup Volunteer
Banyule City CouncilSupported playgroups aim to achieve the following outcomes:
- disadvantaged children have improved learning, development and wellbeing outcomes through improved parent-child interaction in the early home learning environment,
- parents develop their parenting skills and confidence to support their children’s learning and development; and -families are supported to transition into other community supports such as community playgroups or to more intensive early childhood or specialist services.
As a Supported Playgroup Volunteer you will help to further enhance the Playgroup by creating a welcoming and safe environment. You will do this by:
- engaging with playgroup participants,
- assisting with setting up and packing up playgroup equipment and completing administrative tasks such as registering new families and recording attendance.
We are looking for volunteers with:
- The ability to build rapport with families and their children and have an understanding of the importance of strong relationships within a family,
- Good communication and interpersonal skills,
- Be able to respectfully and empathetically interact with vulnerable families, without judgement,
- Ability to relate to and communicate with people from culturally diverse backgrounds, with varying levels skills with the English language,
- Be availabile Mondays 9am-3pm and ability to commit to a minimum of 12 months; and
- Will need to hold a Working with Children Check card.
