Suncoast spinners is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing the sport of wheelchair basketball to the Sunshine Coast for over 20 years.

We are seeking a volunteer to fill a Wheelchair Basketball coaching position at the University of the Sunshine coast Stadium. The role will include a weekly training session and preparing teams for State Championship events. Wheelchair basketball experience not necessary however a sound understanding of basketball and coaching principles would be beneficial. Additional training provided through Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association. Wheelchair Basketball is an exciting Paralympic team sport for athletes with physical impairment. Wheelchair Basketball has similar rules to stand up basketball and has the same court specifications. The game requires team communication, coordination and strategic skills, and offers many social and physical benefits.

The weekly social program runs during school term dates subject to stadium availability, Wednesday evenings 6.30 to 8.30pm at USC stadium, Sunshine Coast.

This role involves coaching and training of club members including beginners through to players from the QLD junior development squad and the NWBL; the QLD Spinning Bullets. The minimum time commitment is 2 hours per week.

This positions would suit a person with an interest in sport with pathways to national league. Coaching volunteers will need to be enthusiastic and capable of motivating young people.
