The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Richmond Community Learning Centre.

Do you love to fix and mend things that are broken or in need of repair?  Get involved in your local community and participate in our once a month repair sessions.  These take place on the last Sunday of the month from 10am to 12pm.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • fix/mend broken items brought in by community members
  • asses each item brought in and decide if it is fixable or not
  • communicate with item's owner and repair corner coordinator of the state of the item

Skills and Experience:

  • knowledge and suitable skill level in the area they would like to be fixers in
  • ability to judge whether an item can be fixed or not and any risks that may arise by trying to fix it
  • ability to communicate what they are doing

Benefits: This is a great program which aims to minimize waste to landfill by extending the life of belongings and strengthening local communities through face to face sharing of knowledge and skills about mending and repairing.
