Open Support is seeking volunteers to join their Visit Program team to improve the wellbeing of people who are socially isolated.

Established in 1990, Open Support is a community service organisation committed to providing assistance to families in need across NSW through the active participation of trained volunteers and staff.

The Open Support Visit Program aims to reduce the impact of social isolation by providing opportunities for social connection and offering companionship through face-to-face visits to people experiencing social isolation in the community. The volunteer visitor offers in-home companionship and social support to a matched client in the Eastern Suburbs.

The Role:

  • Provide home visits to people who are socially isolated
  • Provide respite to carers through home visits and outings
  • Participate with the client at the Organisations social events
  • Be aware of and communicate client needs to the program Coordinator
  • Maintain records of client visits

What You Need:

  • To be over 18 years of age
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and active listening skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • To attend the Volunteer Training Programs
  • Basic computer skills and access to a computer and email
