Bicycles for Humanity is a worldwide, grass roots, volunteer-run movement focused on simple, sustainable empowerment through bicycle transport in the developing world. The B4H WA Bike Shed is the Perth hub, where donated second hand bicycles are collected, sorted repaired and loaded into containers for shipping. B4H WA currently has a core group of 10-15 regular volunteers who attend the B4H WA Bike Shed workshop every Tuesday and Friday between 9am and 2pm. In addition there are many more who attend less regularly, as well as those who attend the monthly Sunday workshop on the 2nd Sunday of each month. The Workshop Manager will be responsible to the Operations Coordinator and will:

  1. Have an interest in bicycles and an understanding of the B4H Objectives.
  2. Have knowledge of keeping a volunteer workshop flowing and day to day workshop management.
  3. Liaise with OH&S Supervisor to maintain a safe working environment.
  4. Be available to open and close facility, 9:00am to 2:00pm Tuesdays & Fridays.
  5. Work with bike mechanics and repairers, understanding they are volunteers.
  6. Maintain tool boxes and audit of tools.
  7. Undertake site inductions where required.
  8. Liaise with Loadmaster for loading of export container.
  9. Maintain a quality standard for the various bicycle programs.
  10. Liaise with Corporate Volunteer groups, school groups and general public.
  11. Manage workshop security to include securing of containers.
  12. Manage bike sales when required,including issuance of receipts for sales.
  13. Maintain a supply of bicycle parts from supplier and salvaged from recycled bikes.
  14. Work towards increased workshop opening days per week when ready.
  15. Fill in for Operations Coordinator when he is away. The Workshop Manager needs also to be comfortable working with disabled volunteers who attend the workshop with their carers, and also working with a people on court ordered community service who attend with a Court Officer.
