Become a volunteer tutor and mentor with the Homies homework club!

Homies

Homies is a tutoring and mentoring program providing one-on-one tutoring and mentoring for Primary School aged children, particularly those from a disadvantaged background. The program aims to improve educational outcomes through learning assistance, provide supportive role models in its volunteers and create a positive social environment with other children. Homies is based at Emerald Hill Library, South Melbourne and runs on Thursday evenings during school term time. We depend on volunteers who are willing to give their time to this important and rewarding work.

As a Homies volunteer you will:

  • Be confident in helping Primary School aged children with their homework, especially reading, writing and maths.
  • Work with the same child each week, in order to develop an effective tutoring and mentoring relationship.
  • Be available Thursday evenings from 6pm - 7:30pm during school term time (or notify the Coordinator when you are unavailable.)
  • Be invited to contribute to the strategic development of the program.
You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
