Food Literacy Facilitator Volunteer - Adelaide

The program Our FoodREDi programs within community and justice settings, provide participants with information and education in relation to healthy eating, how to get value for money and achieve a balanced diet. By bringing people together for a series of hands-on workshops, Red Cross helps individuals make sustainable changes that will improve their health and prevent and manage chronic disease.

The opportunity Red Cross Food Literacy Facilitators are trained to deliver workshops to people in community and justice settings. You must be a confident public speaker, able to facilitate group discussions and be able to build rapport with disadvantaged people quickly. You will demonstrate effective communication skills, positivity, patience and ability to work with people from various backgrounds.

The impact As a Food Literacy Facilitator, you’ll teach people in the community or justice setting about how to cook healthy meals, read food labels and the importance of physical exercise. You'll also cook a great meal to share together during every session. Through your engaging workshops you will have a positive impact on participants well-being and encourage sustainable healthy lifestyle changes.
