Reception consists of greeting our clients, taking meal orders, receiving cash payments and giving correct change. The Reception Desk Operator will get to know regular clients by name, communicate their meal orders to the kitchen and help with setting up / packing up the dining area before and after meals. The reception desk also contains monthly menus, brochures and other materials to hand out to clients seeking information about our services. Any questions the Reception volunteer is unable to answer can be referred to a staff member for further assistance.

Working as a team with staff and other volunteers, the Reception Desk Operator will need good communication skills and enjoy interacting with clientele. The person in this role must be comfortable handling money and is responsible for the integrity of the cash box. To assist setting up the dining area and coffee/tea setting, this volunteer may be asked to move folding tables and chairs, place tablecloths and cutlery on tables, and often will be asked to assist in serving meals at lunchtime.

As the clientele is mature aged, the ideal applicant will be polite, pleasant and well-presented.
