Auskick Co-ordinator Volunteer - Southern Football League

As the Auskick Co-Ordinator Volunteer, you will be the facilitator of the program and be willing to use your experiences to teach young children the joy and fun of the game.

Duties:

  • Ensure that all Southern Football League coaches code of behaviours are followed.
  • Develop the team fairly and without bias, by ensuring that all players are given an equal amount of playing time.
  • Ensure a positive playing environment by ensuring that all mini players have good sportsmanship, play fairly and letting them know that the game is played for fun and not for the win.
  • Communicate with players on their own level.
  • Build relationships with the players, parents, committee and the football community.
  • Keep in touch with player’s families about any changes that may affect game day eg. Playing field and time changes.
  • Contact the coaching coordinator of any problems that occur during the match.
  • Be willing to assist the club in running of social events that mini players are involved with.
  • Follow the AFL Next Generation Australian Football Match Policy section on the development of Juniors that starts on Page 17.
  • As a Club Official they need to comply by the ‘Club Administrators & Officials Code of Behaviour’ which is outlined in the Southern Football League Inc., Official Handbook 2016, section 8.4.

Qualifications:

  • Need to complete a SANFL Level 1 coaching accreditation that must be obtained before

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate verbally to the intended audience.
  • Have a familiarity with the game, how it is played and the rules that are followed.
  • Time management and people management are essential.
  • Have an understanding about fair play and good sportsmanship.
  • Have knowledge and ideas of player retention and recruitment and be able to implement them in the role.
  • Knows that to introduce young children to the game that it is for fun and not competitiveness. For this the will need to have excellent patience.

Experience:

  • No experience is necessary, but would be beneficial to have some experience in coaching minis and their behaviours.
