Share your life experiences and create new memories!
Our Anam Cara Aged Care Community at Bray Park is delighted to be opening a new memory support cottage on site in early 2019. Clear Mountain Cottage features a homelike environment where residents can enjoy a sense of community, well-being and belonging.
The cottage is adapted to support 19 residents with memory loss and is looking for people who are passionate about aged care and are able to spend meaningful time with residents. This can include assisting with small group activities, cooking, gardening, pet care, and singalongs or utilise your own skills and talents to bring joy and create smiles!
As part of the Lifestyle Volunteer role you can assist our residents living in Clear Mountain Cottage by:
- Encouraging independence friendship and fun.
- Listening to their stories and reminiscing.
- Providing meaningful and spontaneous activities.
- Discovering passions and interests.
- Creating new memories.
- Networking with staff, families and other volunteers to enhance resident’s well- being.
The role of Lifestyle Volunteer is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm, caring and empathetic manner. Volunteering is a great way to make a difference in the lives of our seniors while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.
Volunteering hours for this role are Monday to Sunday between the hours of 8am until 8pm. Volunteers can choose a time suitable to themselves. Just note your more suited time on the survey.
Anam Cara means ‘Soul Place’ and is an innovative and award winning aged care community. Residents enjoy a resort style community with expansive outdoor gardens, children’s playgrounds and BBQ areas that can be enjoyed by residents, families and friends.
Anam Cara has embraced the internationally-recognised Eden Alternative Philosophy of Care and became the first aged care home in Qld to be awarded full Eden in Oz and NZ registration. It is a lovely, welcoming and rewarding place to volunteer where you will meet many wonderful people and learn great new skills that may assist you both personally and professionally.
We look forward to hearing from you!
