All training and mentoring is provided. Training involves an introductory webinar, one-on-one mentoring with your manager and a mentor, and a weekend of practical management skills training.

As an Assistant District Manager with Girl Guides, you support and manage guiding in your community. In Girl Guides, youth members meet in units that are run by volunteer Unit Leaders and Unit Helpers. All the units in a council area form a District, and the District Manager and Assistant Managers are responsible for guiding in the District. This includes managing volunteers, building partnerships within the community, ensuring policy and risk management is followed, overseeing financial management, solving problems, liaising with parents and other community organisations, recruiting youth members and volunteers and representing girl guides in the community.
In Maribyrnong District, we are looking to recruit an Assistant District Manager with a particular focus on recruiting and supporting new volunteers. This can involve reviewing and responding to new volunteer enquiries, conducting interviews and screening for suitability, and ensuring new volunteers are supported in matching to an appropriate role.
The role of Assistant District Manager can also involve chairing monthly meetings, handling administration and volunteer management via phone and emails, participating in ceremonies, visiting unit meetings and activities, and promoting guiding, according to the interests of the volunteer and the needs in the area as agreed with the District Manager. There is a strong support team in the Region to provide advice and assistance in finding any information or solving any problems.
No previous experience of girl guides is necessary if you have useful management experience. Or if you have experience in guiding this can be a chance to learn management skills. This role is great for a volunteer who wants to support girl guides but doesn't want to work directly with girls or make a weekly commitment to unit meetings. The role can be time flexible and most of it can be done on your schedule.
