Vinnies and the team

The St Vincent de Paul Society assists people experiencing poverty and inequality and works to shape a more just and compassionate society. We assist in offering “a hand up” to people in need. We do this by respecting their dignity, sharing our hope, and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.

Our Vinnies shops are a well-established and much-loved part of the Aussie retail landscape. Aside from being op-shop mecca for fans of all things quality and thrift, the shops fundraise for our broad range of services supporting the community. They also often act as a first point of contact for people seeking emergency assistance such as food and clothing; thereby playing a central role to the operation of the Society.

The Volunteer Role

The Shop Sorter will perform a variety of tasks including sorting of either clothing or Bric-a-Brac  into the right sections. You will be quality checking all items for suitability of resale and processing new stock and applying pricing. You’ll also maintain the tidiness and safety of the sorting area to comply with WH&S regulations and code of code of conduct.

The volunteers that we are seeking for will ideally you will have:

  • A healthy appreciation of volunteering and a willingness to work within the ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment to ensure achieving common objectives
  • Physical ability to lift bags of clothes and bulky items

Why join Vinnies as a Volunteer
