SOCIAL OUTINGS ASSISTANT
Liverpool Volunteer Resource CentreSocial Outings Volunteers fulfil the role of Community Access Program Assistants on group outings for adults with an intellectual disability. This Organisation offers a variety of community-based, recreation and leisure activities for their customers and their programs encourage development through positive and fun experiences.
About The Role:
- Volunteers assist staff to deliver a safe and enjoyable social experience to participants
- Activities are organised on a group basis and take place on weeknights and weekends
- Promote the comfort, well-being and safety of participants
- Interact socially and respectfully with participants, staff, volunteers
- Encourage participants to use/maintain self-help skills – e.g. make their own decisions
- Assist participants where basic care needs are required – e.g. mobility assistance & communication support
- Participate in education and training opportunities
- Volunteer game cost/meal cost/transport is generally covered by the Organisation
Activities may include:
- Indoor cricket
- Lawn bowls
- Movies
- Horse riding
- Swimming
- Dining out
- Concerts
- Cruises
About You:
- Genuine empathy for people with a disability
- Be positive and willing to learn
- Ability to communicate with people from a variety of backgrounds
- Ability to volunteer on weeknights and weekends
- Commitment to maintain confidentiality
- Trustworthy, patient, reliable and willing to submit to criminal record checks
