Social Outings Volunteers fulfil the role of Community Access Program Assistants on group outings for adults with an intellectual disability. This Organisation offers a variety of community-based, recreation and leisure activities for their customers and their programs encourage development through positive and fun experiences.

About The Role:

  • Volunteers assist staff to deliver a safe and enjoyable social experience to participants
  • Activities are organised on a group basis and take place on weeknights and weekends
  • Promote the comfort, well-being and safety of participants
  • Interact socially and respectfully with participants, staff, volunteers
  • Encourage participants to use/maintain self-help skills – e.g. make their own decisions
  • Assist participants where basic care needs are required – e.g. mobility assistance & communication support
  • Participate in education and training opportunities
  • Volunteer game cost/meal cost/transport is generally covered by the Organisation

Activities may include:

  • Indoor cricket
  • Lawn bowls
  • Movies
  • Horse riding
  • Swimming
  • Dining out
  • Concerts
  • Cruises

About You:

  • Genuine empathy for people with a disability
  • Be positive and willing to learn
  • Ability to communicate with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Ability to volunteer on weeknights and weekends
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality
  • Trustworthy, patient, reliable and willing to submit to criminal record checks
