A Not for Profit Organisation is looking for Volunteers to provide social support to their customers in the Cumberland Council LGA. The areas Volunteers may travel to include – Fairfield, Girraween, Granville, Greystanes, Guildford, Holroyd, Mays Hill, Merrylands, Pemulwuy, Pendle Hill, Prospect, Smithfield, Toongabbie, Wentworthville, Westmead, Widemere, Woodpark and Yennora.

About The Role:

  • Home Visiting Volunteers provide companionship and support to elderly people aged over 65, by visiting them in their own homes for 1 hour, once a week
  • Follow any Safe Work Method procedures implemented for the customer’s home whilst at the home and when arriving and leaving
  • Assist with writing and posting letters if requested
  • Obtain feedback from customer about what they would like to do during home visits e.g. talking, be read to, playing cards etc and pass on these preferences to your supervisor after the visit

About You:

  • Commitment to working with elderly people and people with disabilities
  • Commitment to work within the guidelines/legislation relevant to this position
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality
  • Trustworthy, patient, reliable and willing to submit to criminal record checks
  • Availability to Volunteer weekdays (9am – 2pm) on a roster basis
