The Interchange Inner East Host Program matches a child (0-18) with a disability to a volunteer host or host family. The host volunteer then provides respite to the family by supporting the child on a regular basis. The agreed support is regular and planned, and can be a few hours weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on the needs of the family and the availability of the host volunteer. If the volunteer and family are comfortable to do so there may be overnight stays as well. Hosts may be single, living with a partner, and with or without children.
The host volunteer can support the child in the child’s home, in the host’s own home, or take the child on outings in the community.
These activities may take place in Boroondara, Monash, Whitehorse, Manningham or further afield.
If you have some regular spare time (minimum 3 hours once per month) we would love to hear from you!
