A Sailing Coordinator volunteer is required to provide land/pontoon support for people with a disability who are learning how to sail. The purpose of Sailability Townsville is to enable people with a disability to learn how to sail or to experience sailing with a skilled/trained volunteer. As our service grows we need more volunteer support workers to help get our disabled customers ready for sailing. Tasks involved but not limited but not limited to: • have experience of working with people with a disability • be willing to learn how to manage our hoist • be willing to learn about two-way radio • be willing to help with set-up and stand-down procedures – marques, first aid kits, life jackets etc. • Rigging and launching dinghies • Fitting life jackets • Operation of the support boat • Sailing the dinghies • Administration • Winching sailors into dinghies • Assisting on the pontoon
