The Abbey Medieval Festival is one of Australia's premier living history events, and we're looking for volunteers to help us make history come alive!
Medieval re-enactment groups, musicians, street performers, craft and food vendors from across Australia join us at 'Abbeystowe' in Caboolture for this annual showcase of over 1,000 years of medieval history.
We have several volunteering opportunities across our calendar of events, which include:
- Medieval Banquets, Saturday 29 Jun & 6 July
- Kids Dig It! Medieval Family Fun Week, Monday 1 to Friday 5 July
- Abbey Medieval Festival Tournament Weekend, 13 & 14 July
Hosted by our incomparable Lord Stewart, Sir Blair, the Medieval Banquets are evenings of authentic medieval food and entertainment is a feast for the senses—something we cannot achieve without the help of our volunteer community.
Our Banquet volunteers can work in service (including the illustrious high-table), the banquet bar, and of course the ever-important task of washing up!
Kids Dig It! Is a week of activities for our younger fans. Held from 9:30am - 3pm each day from Monday 2 to Friday 6 July, we put on various crafts and activities aimed at children aged from 4 to 12 years. We are looking for volunteers to help run craft activities, assist workshop facilitators and help our in our cafe.
This all leads to the main event - the tournament weekend. We have a variety of roles available over the main Festival weekend including:
- gates cashiers
- joust token sellers
- tavern staff
- VIP gallery attendants and wait staff
- performance reviewers
- venue supervisors
- stallholder assistants
- runners and so many more!
We also appreciate any and all help during our Festival set-up and pack-down weeks.
Costuming will be provided, as will food and drinks; and all volunteers will receive a Maxime Heroica t-shirt.
It really does take a village to put on our events, and it wouldn't be possible without our Maxime Heroica Volunteer team. Sign up today for the ultimate medieval volunteering experience!
