Are you looking to make a difference in our community? Look no further! Multicultural Communities Council of SA (MCCSA) is inviting volunteers for their Community Visitor Scheme project. We are looking for people from different nationalities who are happy to visit our seniors in Aged care facilities or homes. You can support our elderly with the gift of companionship and help to reduce their loneliness and isolation. It is a perfect volunteering opportunity for people working, studying, or retired as it is flexible…and yet so important! As an MCCSA Community Visitor, you will be part of a community of more than 100 people, aged from 18 to 80 years. Our volunteers speak many different languages and come from diverse backgrounds; however, they all have kindness and a genuine desire to help in common. You also have access to free English conversation classes, bi-monthly volunteer training (with lunch and a catch-up!), yoga, and also nights out. It’s an opportunity to meet new people, enlarge your network, improve your skills, and most of all, improve the quality of life of an older person. Travel expenses will be reimbursed for visits. For applicants aged 55 and over this volunteer job is recognized by Centrelink as contributing to your work requirement. To learn more, listen to Florine on radio 5 EBI on Tuesdays at 5.30 pm or call us on 82134613 or email us.
