Volunteer Tutors are needed for a Program that assists adult migrants and refugees learn foundational English and settlement skills. This in turn enables them to participate socially and economically within Australian society.

About The Role: • Tutors provide informal language tuition, on a one-to-one basis, in students' homes or at an agreed upon location • Time commitment is 1-2 hours per week, for a minimum of 6 months • Free online comprehensive training provided for all Tutors • Training includes tasks to develop cross-cultural awareness and tasks to assist students with their settlement needs, as well as skills training for one-on-one tutoring • Volunteers have free access to additional online interactive resources • Volunteers will be closely supported by the Volunteer Tutor Program Coordinator

About You: • No previous teaching experience is required • Fluency in all aspects of the English language • Enthusiasm and a positive attitude is a must • Self-confident and able to work independently - your commitment to the role as Tutor has a direct effect on your Student’s motivation • Non-judgemental and empathetic to the needs of migrants and refugees • Volunteers from all walks of life and different backgrounds are encouraged and welcomed
