Urban Food Volunteer Gardening (Urban Food Program)

    Training and Appraisal: • All volunteers must attend at least one training session per year as organ

  • Requirements
    • National Police Certificate *
    • Working with Children Check *

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Propagate and plant out edible seedlings and herbs
    • Harvest fresh vegetables and improve soil conditioning
    • Work with compost, organic fertilizers and pesticides
    • Assist in updating all records associated with the gardens activities.

    • To follow established administrative organisation procedures as per organisations and projects requirements
    • Help with evaluation of the project through accurate recording of fruit/vegetable production

Programme Objectives: • To increase the use of existing urban food resources (public and private) to improve food security, and in particular to harvest the urban orchard and provide fresh fruit to DIVRS and other food relief agencies. • To create a more sustainable community by re-localizing food production, distribution and consumption.

Key Position Objective: • Participate in horticultural design, production and distribution of edible food systems in the DIVRS Backyard Garden
