Northern Rivers Community GatewayYouth Frontiers is for young people aged 12-16 years who are interested in engaging with and working with volunteer mentors on a community-minded project of a topic of their development. The objectives of Youth Frontiers are to enhance participants’ self-esteem, confidence and communication skills through mentoring; increase young people’s connection and participation in their community and recognise the contribution young people make to their communities; while supporting volunteers to enhance their skills in order to provide quality mentoring. Youth Frontiers requires a weekly commitment from mentees and mentors over a 6 month period, ending in a showcase exhibiting the completed projects of Youth Frontiers participants. Volunteer mentors will attend group sessions with other mentors and mentees as well as undertake 10 hours of one-to-one mentoring sessions with their mentee.
