The Community Information Volunteer provides assistance to community members in a confidential and impartial manner whilst at all times, respecting the individual's right to make their own choices and decisions. This is done through awareness and compliance with agency guidelines and policies, procedures, standards and relevant Government legislation. You will:

  • be available to work a regular roster of approximately 3.5 hours
  • attend regular training sessions made available to volunteers
  • be familiar with BayCISS policies and procedures
  • respect the individuals right to confidentiality, privacy and non-judgemental support at all times
  • unless exempt, complete approximately 50 hours of training for qualifications to perform tasks within your role
  • collect and enter data for reporting purposes
  • assist service users in times of need and identify priority need areas
  • assist service users with referrals into appropriate services
  • work within agency guidelines to determine emergency relief distribution
