As a Event Team Member at Puffing Billy Railway you will be trained to assist passengers to remain safe and enjoy their day at one of our regular scheduled Events.
At Events such as The Great Train Race or the Day Out with Thomas, you may travel on the train with the passengers, check tickets, provide information on the railway, its history and the environment it transverses, you may do some crowd control or hand out water and souvenirs to particpants. Your job is to ensure passengers enjoy their day and travel safely, so it is essential that you enjoy working with and interacting with people.

Puffing Billy Railway aims to provide a fun, relaxed and happy environment to volunteer in. We have a Volunteer Service Team whose role is to support our volunteers and assist in making your volunteer experience positive and enjoyable. Puffing Billy Railway volunteers receive discount on train tickets and most items sold in our retail shops.

All volunteers and staff at Puffing Billy Railway require a current Working with Children Check and a National Police Certificate. Our Volunteer Services Team will assist with the application of these requirements.

You will find Puffing Billy Railway in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges. As the train meanders from Belgrave to Gembrook it transverses lush fern gullies and tranquil rainforests. It passes looming mountain ash trees and rolling paddocks. Trains run every day of the year with the exception of Christmas Day. We are easy to get to by train, bus or car (we have free parking for our volunteers).
