2nd Assistant Joey Leader - Old Beach Scout Group

Scouts Tasmania
Logo for Scouts Tasmania

Do you love children but are concerned by the effect of too much 'screen time' on their development and social skills?

Do you enjoy watching kids learn practical skills while discovering the beauty and wonder in their natural environment?

Old Beach Scouts are looking for volunteer Assistant Leaders to join their Joey Mob (5 - 7 years).

Old Beach Scouts are seeking volunteers who are prepared to be reliable, attentive, cheerful and have a can-do attitude - as this is the role model we want for the children. Please note you do not have to have children to be good at this! This role would also be perfect for anyone working or seeking work in a childcare or education setting.

============================= What does a JOEY ASSISTANT LEADER do?

We have Joey Scouts aged 5-7 years - this is the first section of the Scouting journey.

The Joey Scout program nurtures a deeper understanding of the world around them. Joeys do activities which earn them badges themed around 'care and share', 'buddies', 'environment and adventure' and 'promises'.

A Joey Assistant Leader will help their experienced Leader plan and deliver fun, age-appropriate crafts, games and imaginative play during a weekly 1 hour session. There are also opportunities to join the older Cubs (7-10yrs) for Community Service activities such as helping out with 'Dining With Friends'; and a once-a-year 'group camp' (overnights optional) with all sections of Old Beach.

This role is most suited to someone who is comfortable singing songs, enjoys making stuff (it doesn't have to be perfect!) and has a huge heart for little kids. Think Play School with an outdoor theme.

The more the merrier, so this is a volunteer role you could do with a friend. Approximately two hours a week volunteering during term times - one hour running the program, approximately one hour (sometimes less) for set-up, pack-up and planning time with your Leader.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
