The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of The Epilepsy Foundation.

Are you available on Wednesdays to assist us with collecting donations and making deliveries for the Epilepsy Foundation Op Shop? We need someone who is keen to make a difference, likes helping people and enjoys meeting others. Some heavy lifting is involved. We can arrange to collect you for your shift if you are located near one of our shops in Blackburn, Cranbourne, Parkdale, Beaumaris, Port Melbourne or Kensington.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Ride along with the Op shop Manager to pick up furniture and household goods from the homes of people offering items
  • Assist with the delivery of sold items to the purchaser's home
  • Assist with distributing stock for sale to our Op shops across Melbourne
  • The truck, housed at Blackburn is equipped with a raising/lowering loading platform and the delivery/pick up team is supplied with all appropriate moving equipment

Skills and Experience:

  • An awareness of good manual handling practices would be valuable (training is provided)
  • Someone who is keen to make a difference, likes helping people and enjoys meeting others
  • Works well in a team environment, is organized and has practical problem solving skills
  • Heavy lifting certificate required

Induction and Training:

  • We are proud of our induction program which includes an online component (you can do this at home, in the shop or at the Surrey Hills office). Before you start your role you will receive training in OHS awareness and manual handling skills; and receive an overview of the important work of the Epilepsy Foundation and free access to our "Introduction to Understanding and Managing Epilepsy" online course.

Note: The truck is located at Blackburn, close to the railway station but we can arrange to collect you for your shift if you live in, or can get to close proximity to one of our Ops shops. Our shops are located in Blackburn, Cranbourne, Parkdale (close to train), Beaumaris, Port Melbourne and Kensington.
