Learning Driver Mentor - L2P
Jesuit Social Services-BVRCThe Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Jesuit Social Services.
Would you like to help disadvantaged young people to navigate the 120 hour driving practice prior to being able to go for their licence? Our program matches learner drivers with a volunteer mentor who supervises the practice hours. All of our volunteer mentors receive training to equip them to supervise a young persons 120 hours of practice.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- coach learner drivers in driving skill
- Spend time as a volunteer driver with a learner driver - driving and practicing their driving
- Ensuring the overall safety of both themselves and the learner in the car
- Filling in the students driver log book
- Booking the car
Skills and Experience: Patience in interacting with learner drivers
- Ability to build rapport with young people from a diverse background
- Ability to drive and to coach learners in building their driving skills
- Able to communicate
Induction and Training.
- Two interviews with Jesuits about the role
- Mandatory paperwork, Police check and Working with Children Check
- VicRoads training and past driving check
- Cohort specific training in working with disadvantaged and higher need young people
Note: The role will be undertaken at the same location each time.
