Volunteers at our residential services cafes provide customers with a warm welcome, they get to know peoples’ names and take a genuine interest in their lives. They endeavour to deliver the best customer service possible in all situations, resolving any issues or complaints that may arise in a respectful manner. They ensure that safe procedures are being followed and that both the café and surrounding areas are kept clean and tidy. Duties may include: • Set up prior to opening and cleaning up prior to closing café • Greeting customers and taking orders • Preparing and serving food and drinks as required • Washing up as necessary • Cash register use (if applicable) • Communicating any concerns, issues to staff supervisor • Re-ordering or collecting supplies from Kitchen for cafe The volunteer may undertake some, or all of the listed activities and tasks depending on the need of the service. Task specific training will be tailored to the individual needs of the volunteer and the service.

The Volunteer is required to:

  • work alone/independently
  • record and report attendance
  • complete orientation and other training as requested

The purpose of the volunteer position is to support the management and staff of Churches of Christ in Queensland to improve the lives of all people we deliver services to and to the communities in which we serve.
