Western Sydney Local Health District Mental Health Service is seeking volunteers to work in pairs, providing assistance and support to family members and relatives before attending a Hearing at the Mental Health Review Tribunal.

Duties include:

*Supporting relatives prior to a hearing or after a hearing.

*Ensuring relevant information is offered and made available for relatives.

*Contacting clinicians for additional support for families, according to procedures.

*Working alongside Volunteer coordinator and Tribunal coordinator during your volunteer session.

Volunteers are not required to have direct contact with consumers/patients. With the support of the local Volunteer committee, attending Orientation and training, once registered with our service.

Seek support or debrief with the Volunteer coordinator to consolidate the important contribution which volunteers bring to the mental health service & carers.

Skill: WSLHD Values of collaboration, openness, respect and empowerment promote the input of volunteers with skills in listening, following administration and procedure guidelines, working as a group and with your volunteer pair; brief written volunteer report; responsibility for maintaining the Volunteer venue and confidentiality of information.

Training: NSW Health mandatory training (support provided) Volunteer training program, promotion of safety & confidentiality. Orientation to the Mental Health Service Registration as a NSW Health Contingent worker (Vol. coordinator to assist with registration). *Covid Screening as per current Health regulations and Mental Health Service procedures.
