A hairdresser is sought to visit a hospital each week to cut and sometimes set patients' hair whilst in hospital or rehabilitation. Many of the patients have been in hospital for weeks or have been at home and not able to go to the hairdresser, so they really appreciate the opportunity to look and feel better with a haircut. If you can do cosmetic care, that would be an added bonus!

An advanced level of spoken English is required.

Benefits: People who volunteer, are always saying that they receive more than they give. Volunteers are part of the team and feel rewarded because of the difference they make in the lives of patients in being able to provide this service. What seems such a small thing for a hairdresser to offer, can mean so much to a patient who has been unwell. Its often the little things like this that can make the biggest difference to how they feel emotionally. Volunteers have the opportunity of developing wonderful friendships with fellow volunteers.
