Our Volunteer Leaders help the girls (and each other) to grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members through our focus on fundamentals such as community service, leadership, self-awareness and team work - these are skills that will last them a lifetime.

Being a Unit Leader or Assistant Unit Leader is a rewarding experience it offers personal development and the chance to make a difference to girls' lives.

ROLE DESCRIPTIONS

UNIT LEADER 3-4 hours per week (school terms only) including 2 hour guide meeting Occasional weekend events Plan meeting programs using Australian Guide Programming Attend Monthly District/Support Group meetings

ASSISTANT UNIT LEADER 2 - 2.5 hours per week (school terms only) including 2 hour guide meeting Occasional weekend events Assist leader with running the meeting Attend monthly District/Support Group meetings

There will also be opportunities to attend local, state, national and international camps and events.

Training (both leadership and specialised skill training) and uniforms are provided for both roles.

Applicants will need to undergo a Blue Card Working with Children Check & obtain a current First Aid Certificate (opportunities for first aid training are provided).

Townsville and Charters Towers has 7 districts: Aitkenvale, Castle Hill, Charters Towers, Kirwan, Ross, Southern Townsville and Wulguru. We currently have approx.180 Guides, aged 5-18, and 20 leaders. We are currently looking for women to become leaders in all districts. Units of girls, generally grouped in ages of 5-10, 10-14 and 14+ ages meet on different nights or Saturday mornings.

They also have heaps of fun! • Leadership and skills training is provided through your unit and through Girl Guides Qld • You will be supported by a District and Region Manager and their teams (all volunteers) • Out of pocket costs covered by Unit funds & your annual membership and training costs are covered by the District.
