The Volunteer Tutor Scheme is a volunteer program designed to help migrants and refugees who are unable to attend AMEP English classes or who require additional learning support, with one on one lessons for 1 hour per week. The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) provides up to 510 hours of English language tuition to help them learn basic English language and settlement skills so they can confidently participate in Australian society. Anyone can become a volunteer tutor, even if you’re not a native English speaker. All you need is confidence in English, access to transport and the desire to help others learn. You will be helping people to access basic services and connect with the community, thereby having a huge impact on their ability to settle in Australia.
