Refugee child mentors - Beaconsfield, Kardinya
Mercy Connect WAVolunteers are needed to offer care and support to refugee children at their schools. Refugee children often feel isolated and anxious and subsequently withdraw from classroom participation. A caring and supportive volunteer, who is willing to build a trusting relationship, can make the world of difference by assisting a child, or small group of children, to tackle classroom tasks and therefore build confidence and self esteem. Volunteers are assigned to a primary or secondary school, depending on their preference, and are expected to attend for three hours per week, during school hours, for the school year. Applications are now open for our next training session on 23rd and 24th of February 2022.
