A Community School whose students come from backgrounds where home life is significantly affected by poverty, housing and mental health issues requires volunteers to assist at a daily Breakfast Club. You can volunteer as part of the Breakfast Club team. The Club runs every day at 10.15am till 10.40am (allowing students who attend school late to still have breakfast). This program is run by teachers but it will also be an opening door for the community to be involved, share some love, build healthy and strong relationships with students and staff. In this role you will receive regular support and training from the staff, in particular the school chaplain, be able to have fun and connect with young people, be challenged and rewarded on a personal and intellectual level and gain a greater understanding of the community in which you live. The club runs Monday - Friday and ideally a rotating roster will be created, depending how much interest is received. You need to be punctual (set up begins at 10am and pack up will finish 11am), be committed, build healthy positive relationships with young people and staff, provide non-judgemental support and friendships, attend training, abide by a Code of Ethical Conduct, and maintain contact and communication with the program coordinator. Police and Working with Children Checks required.
