The Multicultural Visiting Program enables socially isolated elderly from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to receive a regular visit from one of our multicultural volunteers. Our volunteers are matched to an elderly person within their local area, to whom they provide free fortnightly home visits for the purpose of companionship and friendship.

Volunteers are managed by the Coordinator of Volunteer Programs, receive on-going training opportunities, and are also carefully matched to an elderly person with a shared cultural and/or linguistic background. Volunteers are required to make a commitment of at least 12 months, to visit their client for one hour per fortnight, to undergo a police check and to regularly report to the Coordinator of Volunteer Programs.

AMCS operates this program in the Northern Metro, Western Metro, Southern Metro and Barwon-South Western regions of Victoria and is part of the Community Visitors Scheme – an Australian Government Initiative.
