The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Alamein Neighbourhood and Learning Centre.

The Alamein Neighbourhood and Learning Centre is seeking volunteer gardeners to be part of the Cultivating Connections program. The Cultivating Connections is a pilot program Alamein Neighbourhood House is running in partnership with the City of Boroondara and 3000 acres.

The program will match older homeowners who are less able to tend to the vegetable gardens with a volunteer gardener, together they will share in the produce and friendships developed. This will suit volunteer gardeners of all experiences as we hope to match less experienced homeowners with knowledgeable volunteer gardeners. Tasks will vary depending on what the homeowner and the volunteer gardener decide to do.

Key Tasks:

  • Planting seedlings
  • Weeding
  • Pruning
  • Digging
  • Watering
  • General care of plants

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Interest and passion for gardening specifically growing vegetables, fruit and herbs.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Trustworthy and honest.

Outcome of the role: To bring awareness to the Cultivating Connections Program with the desire to start pairing up homeowners and volunteer gardeners.
