ABOUT US

Mahboba’s Promise is an Australian non-profit organisation dedicated to providing a sustainable future to vulnerable women and children in Afghanistan. Over the past twenty-two years, Mahboba’s Promise has adhered to the values of compassion and integrity to empower women and children to make a lasting difference in their own lives. We have established schools, shelters and health clinics across Afghanistan and provide sponsorships for girls’ education, widows, and orphans.

We are looking for someone with an interest in international affairs and a desire to gain experience in the Not-For-Profit sector to volunteer in our office as a Sponsorship Assistant, helping to manage our sponsorship program for orphans and widows in Afghanistan.

We can offer flexible hours to fit university students or work commitments. The role would also suit a retiree with office experience. We are seeking someone who can commit to 2 days a week. Working hours are negotiable.

RESPONSIBILITIES: As part of the role you will undertake tasks including: • Assisting in driving the growth of our Sponsorship Program • Updating sponsorship details in our database • Drafting sponsorship reports and updates from Afghanistan • Communicating with sponsors and other donors via phone, email and post • General office administration duties when required

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Our ideal candidate will have: • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular) • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise work • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task • Have the capability to work independently. • Proficiency in English. • An interest in international affairs and development, the not-for profit sector and/or Afghanistan and its development context.
