Volunteers are required for this friendly visiting program for the older and frail person from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Clients are matched with a volunteer appropriate to their culture, gender and age. Volunteers visit the client for social interaction. The service also provides occasional transport assistance, telephone monitoring and social and recreational activities. The time commitment is a minimum of 1 hour a fortnight. Activities can be for clients or volunteers. Support and training is provided to volunteers on a regular basis. Travel expenses are reimbursed and all volunteers complete an induction training which can be done online, so it is not necessary to travel to Dandenong. Police Check and references required.
