Lyell McEwin Volunteer Association
The LMVA Playroom is operated by the Lyell McEwin Volunteer Association, for the use of individuals who have appointments or are visiting patients within the Health Service. Access to the service is for a 2 hour maximum. The Playroom is open between 8.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday for children below 8 years. No Childcare Qualifications Required.

Family Zone provides a variety of programs designed to help increase the confidence and skills of parents with young children.

The Hackham West Community Centre offers Out of School Hours Care for school aged children in the local area. The program runs in the mornings before school, and in the afternoons after school. Volunteers are required to assist with the setting up of activities, food preparation and to spend time engaging with the children in our care. Ideally you will have confidence and experience in dealing with young people aged 5-12 years old.

The role requires friendly, reliable people who enjoy an early start (07.45am), willing to make breakfast - toast, cereal, milo, juice etc and chat with the children who attend.Obtain key from administration, open up GOSH house, prepare breakfast(s), clean up after breakfast, turn off lights and return key to office.

This dedicated group of volunteers attend school 1 or 2 mornings a week to sit with up to 5 children who may have some learning/reading difficulties and benefit enormously from having one on one sessions outside of the classroom with friendly, patient volunteers. Volunteers will need to be reliable as the children look forward to these out of classroom activities.
