In Girl Guides, Unit Leaders are trained volunteers who look after the girls and provide them with the Australian Guide Program. Units have girls of a mix of ages and our Docklands group is for girls aged 5-14 years. We are looking for 2-3 new volunteers to train and become qualified Unit Leaders, as we are now at capacity with a waiting list and are keen to be able to split into older and younger age groups.

During a typical girl guide meeting, there is a mix of games, skill development activities, crafts, discussion and planning, and badge presentations. Girl Guides is non-formal education, so Unit Leaders help set learning goals and plan activities, but there isn't a structured curriculum and we do a lot of self-directed learning, learning through play and working in small groups. Each activity will involve learning and skill development in a fun way.

Units meet weekly during school terms after school has finished. Units also can go camping and have special activities on weekends or holidays.

In 2020 and 2021, we held Girl Guides meetings over Zoom while in lockdown. While we will are now meeting in person, we may return to video meetings should it be necessary for health and safety. It is essential that all volunteers conduct themselves in a COVID safe manner and take responsibility for conducting activities in a safe manner in line with our COVID Safe plan. As we need to have a certain number of volunteers to monitor COVID Safety at each meeting, this role requires volunteers to be reliable and proactive in communicating when they are not available to volunteer.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
