James Macready-Bryan was assaulted in Melbourne in 2006, on his 20th birthday.  An act of senseless violence left James totally and permanently disabled, and left his family facing a nightmare as they attempted to find answers to the overwhelming question: How are we going to look after our son? 

The JMB Foundation was set up in February 2007 and has two main aims:  to provide financial support for care and rehabilitation, not only for James but also for other young sufferers of an acquired brain injury, ABI; and to give a public voice to those young people – who all too often literally cannot speak for themselves – and to their families and carers. JMB Foundation is an official charity partner with the Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival and provides volunteers to help manage the event.

The task as course marshal is managing pedestrian traffic and/or supervising intersections/roadblocks along the marathon course, pointing runners in the right direction and giving them some encouragement on their way past. We also need volunteers to help at drinks stations, keeping up supplies and handing out water to runners. Volunteer shifts - Saturday, December 11th Course marshalls shifts are 12pm - 7pm, or 2pm - 8pm, or 2pm - 7:30pm Sunday, December 12th Water Station shifts are 5:30am - 10:30am Course marshall shifts are 5am - 1pm, or 5am - 12pm
