Duties -At all times respect the client’s confidentiality -Offer any assistance pertaining to transport needs that may be reasonably required by the client, excluding lifting. -If you are physically capable and comfortable with; light lifting, e.g. shopping or walkers, this is acceptable support. We do ask the driver to open the car door for the client at all times. It is expected that drivers help clients to and from their home, the car, the doctor etc. -Drive clients to medical appointments, respite centres, shopping etc., as agreed with the relevant Coordinator or Manager. -You are not expected to wait with clients, unless they have needs that require such a level of assistance. Ensure the client knows you will return and the time of pick-up. -Be responsible for the welfare, comfort and safety of clients from their homes to their destination and return. -Report any accident, incident or concern as soon as possible to the coordinator. If you notice a client having difficulty or a deterioration in their health, please mention this to the Coordinator. -Drivers are not generally required to enter a client’s home. At times however it may be appropriate to enter a client’s home, e.g. in an emergency, or to help them in, or to share a drink after a long drive. If a driver accepts an invitation to enter the client’s home, please refrain from offering personal or domestic assistance. If these duties are required, explain to the client that you would be happy to refer the need to the manager or co-coordinator who is best able to advise which service can meet those needs. -Drivers are required to wear safety vest and name tag when on duty. -Always use hands free Bluetooth phone where installed. Otherwise ensure you pull over and are stationary with the engine turned off before answering a mobile phone. -Attend compulsory training as required.

Responsible to: You are directly responsible to the Voluntary or paid Coordinator of the area in which you work. You are also responsible to the Operations Manager.
