Rehabilitation Volunteer
WA Wildlife (Supported by Volunteer Melville!)The WA Wildlife's Rehabilitation volunteer program is for anyone interested in rehabilitating wildlife and there are no pre requisites. Rehabilitation volunteers need to attend the WA Wildlife Hospital a minimum of one shift per week (8.30am - 2.30pm or 2.30pm - 8.30pm). Volunteers will work in the Rehabilitation stages of the Centre under the guidance of the Hospital Manager and/or an experienced volunteer and are responsible for the following tasks:
Preparing food for a variety of animals. Cleaning cages, vivariums, aviaries or other housing facilities. Washing dishes, laundry, perches and equipment. Sweeping, mopping of centre facilities. Weighing animals. Assistance with handling large animals. Record keeping. Husbandry and enrichment maintenance. Transporting animals to and from zoos or other wildlife organisations. Assistance with administering medications by an experienced volunteer. Transporting animals to and from vets, zoos or other wildlife shelters.
