Since 1982, Silver Chain has played an integral role in the delivery of in-home palliative care services to the Perth metropolitan area, giving up to 700 families at any one time the ability to care for their loved one in their own home at the end of their life. Much of our success is founded on the dedication and tireless work of volunteers. Volunteering with us is both a rewarding and valuable experience. You will be providing vital support to those living with terminal illness, as well as their carers and families. We provide all of our volunteers with training, mileage expenses and a friendly team environment. There are a range of volunteer opportunities in the Perth region, including: ­ Spending a few hours per week with our clients, to allow their primary carer some respite (take a break from the caring role and have time for themselves) ­ Providing social support to our clients receiving end-of-life care who may be isolated or living alone. ­ Volunteer driving clients to medical appointments or local shops. ­ Helping with administration tasks in an office environment.

You will need to have a spare 4 hours approx each week and some roles may require a driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle. Our volunteers are vital members of our Palliative Care team and so this opportunity is not suited to those seeking a short term commitment.

Due to the nature of the care we are providing, this position is open to those over the age of 25.
