Teacher to research resources for our school programs

A Fairer World

We currently have a wonderful volunteer who maintains the library catalogue and resources in accordance with the written procedures manual, including: • cataloguing acquisitions; • adding borrowers as required; • recording loan issues and returns; • following up on overdue loans; • re-shelving returns; and • systematic checking of shelves for order, missing and outdated resources.

However, we are also in need of someone with knowledge of the Tasmanian secondary education sector to research and recommend resources to support our current programs in schools. These include: • Let’s Get Together, a broad-based diversity education program that aims to address discrimination and bullying. • Living in Between, an anti-racism program offered as a series of workshops or one-off presentations delivered by the Students Against Racism in partnership with TasTAFE. • The Hobart Human Library, in which people who have encountered discrimination are ‘books’ for others to read. Sessions for schools and
workplaces provide a fun approach to breaking down barriers - it’s difficult to maintain prejudices when engaging face to face.

The library and the position are based in our very pleasant and centrally located office at 4 Battery Square, Battery Point, 7004.

You would be working with a small, friendly team in a collaborative and flexible work environment.

Ideally the job would suit either a retired teacher or someone working part-time as a teacher but with time available. Working from home some of the time is an option.

We would prefer someone who is looking to a long-term commitment (1-2 years), as it will take time to become familiar with the resources and the work requirements.

Full training will be provided.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
