Aged Care - Social Visitors for Residents - Erina

HammondCare Central Coast
Logo for HammondCare Central Coast

We are passionate about improving the quality of life for people in need. Become a friend to residents and engage in 1:1 with a person living in the late stages of dementia. This will be in high-care cottages only, so residents will have very limited cognitive/communication abilities – with limited opportunity for two-way/reciprocal conversation. The volunteer’s role would be to provide comfort, companionship and reassurance. It might be watching a favourite TV show together, taking a gentle walk in the garden, reading out loud to the resident (book/magazine/newspaper/Bible), giving a gentle hand massage or listening to music together. There might be times when the resident they plan to visit is asleep or unable to receive visitors, so a volunteer might be matched with 1 or 2 residents in the same cottage, to split their visit between two people.

Flexible times are available.

To be referred to this role an interview with Volunteering Central Coast is required. You will be contacted soon to arrange a mutually convenient time and place.
