About the Role

As a Support Volunteer, you will help us to provide emotional support to people who are in need via phone or in person. Volunteers typically complete a two- to four-hour shift on a day and time of their choosing, once a week or once a fortnight.

Want to get involved?

The intake process involves several stages, including a selection event, interview, and extensive training. Volunteer applicants who are successful in both the selection event and interview, will be invited to take part in training. Held across eight consecutive weeks, this mandatory training consists of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and communication and interpersonal skills specific to the Samaritans philosophy. Please note: There is a cost associated with participation in training (approximately $600).
